Tonight as we were standing in the hallway waiting for Matt to go to his birthday dinner at MamaNona's, Mateo was gazing upon the wedding wall...and he kept grunting with his arm outstretched (that's Mateo speak for I want something)...anyway, when we went over to see what it was that he wanted, he kept touching the wedding picture of Rachel & John's wedding...and he kept touching Papa. The skeptic in me thought that this was a fluke, until he picked out Papa in every picture on our wall (six times in total). All I can figure is he must be thinking...when will Papa come to visit me?
Those nuggets make it all worth while...hugs from Mateo's mom!

Pictures...
So apparently the pictures I loaded in the last post didn't work...so here's the one of Mateo wearing a hat that my dad had made for Lukas...Mateo wants to know when he gets his own. And a shot of Mateo in the play & pack preparing for bed at Rachel's.
Things have been good here...Mateo is developing in leaps and bounds...he loves all things tomato...pizza, pasta & red sauce, etc. We had dinner for our Silverton friends on Monday night...lasagna done Macchiaverna style (i.e. made with homemade red sauce)...it turned out great, but was a lot of cooking!
Back to Mateo, he's now stacking the yogurt containers, instead of just knocking them down. He's also into trying on Mom & Dad's shoes...all kinds of new developments.
For those keeping track of sleep bootcamp, it is going well...we are on the downhill slide...Matt's back in bed with me, and Mateo is sleeping all night in his crib. How amazing it is that we feel more normal now that we are getting consistently better sleep.
Guess that's all for now...hope you are having a good week. Hugs from Oregon, the Millers

Mountain View Construction....

So Papa got this Mountain View Construction hat for Primo (cousin) Lukas when he was about Mateo's age...It fits Mateo's head now...and those curls just can't be tamed by a hat. We had a great visit to Boise for book club and visit to see Lukas and Nathan. They look so much alike. And Mateo loves hanging out with them...he likes to rub foreheads with Nathan when he is in his carseat...and he likes to try to do whatever Lukas does. It's great to have such a good relationship...I am sure there will be many cousin (and sister) stories to come in the future.

Sleep Bootcamp Progress Part 2...
So, Mateo has graduated to sleeping in his crib...the co-sleeper (which is really just a play&pack) has been repurposed for Love and Logic Timeouts. We've added a crib bumper so that when he looses control of his walking skills as he tires, he collapses to the mattress without incurring a goose-egg lump on his head. I have been really excited to get comments on the sleep boot camp approach--thanks to Sarah G, Kayleen, and Barb for sharing their thoughts. It's nice to get feedback from other mothers...it helps me feel a bit less crazy!
Mateo and I are off to Boise for Bookclub tomorrow and a visit to Tia Rachel, Tio John, and Primo Lukas and Nathan. Should be a good visit. Once we get back, we will be at the stage of sitting with him to help him go to sleep, but not staying in the room all night. Nice plus is that mom and dad will actually get to sleep in the same bed again. Uncle Josiah would be so proud!!
Ok, that's it for now...hugs from Oregon, Sarah

Sleep Bootcamp Progress...
Hi,
Just a quick report that Matt, the master sleep trainer, is making good progress at sleep bootcamp. We have moved the co-sleeper to Mateo's room and he is sleeping in it, with Matt sleeping next to him on a mattress on the floor. We are starting to develop a regular night time routine...that includes mom & Mateo time. Matt has been holding up like a trooper...and me, well, I have gloried in three consecutive nights of 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep. It's amazing how much more I like life with good sleep...it gives me hope of returning to a normal life at sometime.
Here's to small successes...and the large sweeping benefits. Keep the good thoughts coming our way...we can use it!!
Thanks, Sarah
